Lord Hannay: extremely difficult negotiation ahead
Nicosia, Jan 27 (CNA) -- The month ahead is going to be a long, complex and
very difficult time as far as negotiations for a comprehensive settlement in
Cyprus are concerned, Britain's special representative Lord David Hannay
said here today.
He said decisions taken in the coming weeks will affect all interested parties and he pledged that London will do its best to secure a positive outcome in the negotiations for all concerned.|
''We are now just entering the last month of a long, complex and extremely difficult negotiation,'' he said after a 50-minute-long meeting with Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides.
Lord Hannay said ''the decisions that will be taken during this last month will be of great importance and consequence for everyone concerned and the British government will be doing its best to ensure that the outcome is positive for everyone concerned.''
Earlier today, Hannay had a working breakfast with President Glafcos Clerides. He was to meet later today House President Demetris Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash.
Hannay said that a statement will be issued in the aftrenoon on his departure about his contacts here.
