Durduran hopes reunification of Cyprus easier within EU

Durduran expressed today hope that the reunification of Cyprus would be
easier within the framework of the European Union.
Durduran met today with President of the Movement to Restructure the Centre Kypros Chrisostomides in the free areas of the Republic. They reaffirmed their common view to examine ways of solving the Cyprus question to the benefit of all Cypriots.|
Speaking after the meeting, Durduran said ''we shall continue our struggle to solve the Cyprus problem'', adding ''we are very hopeful that in the European context it will be more easy now''.
Durduran also noted that he was briefed by Chrisostomides on the latest developments in the Cyprus question, adding that all the information was ''satisfactory''.
Chrysostomides said ''our common concern is to examine ways to solve the Cyprus question to the benefit of all Cypriot citizens, both Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, with the EU framework''.
He pointed out that he and Durduran agreed to keep in touch with the common view to seek the right solution of the Cyprus question.
Cyprus has been divided since 1974 when Turkish troops invaded and occupied its northern third.
