Papadopoulos: ''Turkey has signed an agreement with Turkey''
2003-08-11 19:00:28

Nicosia, Aug 11 (CNA) - The so-called “framework agreement for a customs union” between Turkey and the illegal Turkish Cypriot regime in the Turkish-occupied northern part of Cyprus will cause problems to Ankara's European aspirations, Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos has stressed.

Speaking after a memorial service yesterday for teh Greek Cypriots killed in the 1964 bombing of Tillyria by the Turkish airforce, President Papadopoulos said the "agreement" signed by Turkey and the bogus-state on Friday ''is empty of content'', noting that actually it was signed between Turkey and... Turkey.

President Papadopoulos explained that according to an international court decision the pseudostate is subordinate to Ankara thus any action or agreement the regime signs is illegal.|

Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third.
