2003-09-08 17:09:00

Larnaca, Sep 7 (CNA) - Cypriot Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Yiorgos Lillikas returned to the island today after a visit to Salonica, where he decided with Greek Minister of Development Akis Tsohatzopoulos to set up workgroups that will prepare a plan of action in order for Cyprus and Greece to exploit the island's full accession to the EU in May 2004.

Speaking at Larnaca Airport, Lillikas said he and Tsohatzopoulos set certain fundamental axes of cooperation and set up workgroups ''to prepare within two months a plan of action for the utilisation on behalf of Cyprus and Greece of Cyprus' accession to the EU and to materialise what we call Cyprus being a bridge of communication between the EU and the Middle East''.

''This will be a strategy that will have an economic axis and a business axis, based in Cyprus'', he added.
