Cyprus elected to WFUCA leadership
Limassol, Sep 10 (CNA) -- The World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centres and Associations (WFUCA) will hold its first meeting here today under the new Cyprus presidency.
George Christofidesm, former Vice President of the Federation and President of the Cyprus Federation (CYFUCA) was elected President of WFUCA after elections held here Tuesday, last day of the 6th World Congress of WFUCA.
During the congress hosted in Limassol issues such as cultural diversity and the looting of the cultural heritage in the Turkish- occupied areas of Cyprus were discussed.
According to a press release the President of the World Federation represents the 5000 UNESCO clubs and associations from more that 100 countries around the world and coordinates activities of WFUCA.
He will also participate at the General Assembly of UNESCO which will take place in Paris presenting the conclusions of the Congress and participating at the plenary session.
