Greece and Turkey decide not to hold military exercises
Nicosia, Oct 9 (CNA) ? Foreign Ministers of Greece and Turkey, announced on Thursday their decision not to go ahead with the military exercises Nikiforos and Toxotis and Barboros and Toros in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The decision was announced by Greek Foreign Minister George Papandreou and Turkey?s Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul during a meeting in Antalya.
Greek Foreign Ministry Spokesman Panos Beglitis told CNA that this move ?is a contribution to alleviate tension both on the Cyprus problem and in the region in general?.
Greece and Cyprus hold annually jointly their maneuvers Nikofos and Toxotis while Turkey holds Barboros and Toros annually in the eastern Mediterranean.
