Cypriot MEP in EP delegation for Palestinian elections
Nicosia, Jan 4 (CNA) -- Cypriot Member of the European Parliament, Ioannis Kasoulides, is among the thirty MEPs who will be sent to the Palestinian Territories as part of an official delegation of the European Parliament to observe the elections there on 9th January to replace the late Yasser Arafat as President of the Palestinian Authority.
The delegation, led by Vice President of the European Parliament Edward McMillan-Scott, will be on the ground from 6-10 January, a statement by the EPP-ED Group, the Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) and European Democrats in the European Parliament, said.
Kasoulides is one of the eleven MEP's to be sent by the EPP-ED Group.
The MEPs will meet the candidates and key election officials before forming teams to monitor the events of election day across the West Bank and Gaza.
