G/C and T/C parties expect early solid efforts to solve Cyprus problem
Nicosia, Jan 11 (CNA) -- The leaders and representatives of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot political parties, who met here yesterday under the auspices of the Slovak Embassy in Cyprus expressed their expectation "for early solid efforts to start negotiations to solve the Cyprus problem from both communities".
A joint communique issued after the meeting at the Ledra Palace Hotel, situated in the UN buffer zone, said they also expressed their wish and support for opening more points of communication and urged everybody involved to assist in any way the work of the Committee for the investigation into the fate of the missing persons.
The communique said the party leaders exchanged views on the situation following the 17th of December 2004 (EU Summit).
The participants expressed condolences to the families of the victims of the tsunami catastrophe in the South-East Asia.
The next meeting of the leaders and the representatives of the political parties will be held on 9th March 2005 and the meeting of the working group for sustainable development will be held on 2nd March 2005.
