Nicosia Jan 14 (CNA) -- Cypriot Finance Minister Makis Keravnos and Central Bank Governor Christodoulos Christodoulou discussed here Thursday the latest developments in the local economy and the government's action plan aiming at Cyprus' entry to the Eurozone in 2007.
''We exchanged views and discussed the basic provisions of the plan'', Keravnos said in statements after his meeting with the Governor, while Christodoulou said that the cooperation with the Ministry of Finance is always creative and productive.
Keravnos departs next Monday for Brussels to attend the European Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN), during which Luxembourg the holder of the EU's rotating presidency will present its programme.
ECOFIN, which starts on Tuesday, will discuss recommendations aiming at improving the fiscal figures and the application of suggested procedures to reduce the excessive public deficit recorded in France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and Cyprus.
The EU Finance Ministers will exchange views on the economic repercussions following the earthquake and the tsunamis that have devastated southeast Asia.
