EMAC committee to meet in Cyprus
Nicosia, Jan 25 (CNA) -- The fourth meeting of the navigating committee of the Europe-Middle East Air Traffic Management Coordination (EMAC), in which Cyprus, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt participate, will take place in Cyprus on January 27.
The protocol for the regional cooperation was signed on February 4, 2003, by the transport ministers of the five countries, at Cyprus' initiative. The island, being in a strategic position and acting as a link between Europe and the Middle East, undertook the coordination role in the region for air traffic administration matters.
The meeting will take place under the auspices of Minister of Communications and Works Charis Thrasou, with the participation of the Syrian Transport Minister, the civil aviation directors of the other countries, and representatives from international organisations, such as the European Union, the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and Eurocontrol.
In the context of this meeting, the Ministry of Communications, in cooperation with ICAO, the EU and Eurocontrol, will present the Single European Sky and its relation with the countries in the region of the EU and especially the Middle East.
