All occupation troops must withdraw from Cyprus, Spokesman says
Nicosia, Feb 10 (CNA) -- Cyprus Government Spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides has said the official position of the Cyprus Republic is that all occupation troops must withdraw from Cyprus.
Invited to comment on a statement made by the President of the main opposition party Democratic Rally (DISY), who is currently visiting Turkey, as regards the occupation troops and the relations between the army and the government in Turkey, as well as the reactions to these statements by Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul, Chrysostomides said he did not want to comment on Nicos Anastasiades' visit to Turkey as it concerns the party itself.
''As regards Gul's statements they reaffirm that the Turkish policy remains unchanged,'' he noted.
Invited to comment on Anastasiades' statements that he wants the Turkish Prime Minister to show good will by withdrawing part of the occupation troops, Chrysostomides said ''the official position of the Cyprus Republic is that occupation must be terminated and all occupation troops must withdraw.''
