FCO announces new British High Commissioner to Cyprus
Nicosia, Mar 3 (CNA) – The British Foreign Office announced today that Peter Millet has been appointed British High Commissioner to Cyprus in succession to Lyn Parker.
A press release issued by the FCO today said Parker will be transferred to another diplomatic service appointment and that Millet will take up his appointment in June 2005.
The new High Commissioner was born in January 1955 and entered the FCO in 1974. He served in various posts, including Doha and Caracas and also at the FCO in the Minister of State’s office and the UN Department.
From 1989-1993 he has worked at the UK Representative’s Office in Brussels and later headed the personnel policy unit of the FCO. Between 1997-2001 he served as deputy head of mission at the British Embassy in Athens and from 2002 until 2005 was head of security at the FCO.
He is married with three daughters.
Lyn Parker has been British High Commissioner to Cyprus since September 2001.
