United Nations, Mar 12 (CNA)--- The Cyprus problem was among the issues discussed during a meeting on Friday between UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who met in Madrid on the sidelines of the summit on democracy, terrorism and security.
Alternate UN Spokesman Stephan Dujarric has told CNA from Madrid that ''they also brought the issue of Cyprus and discussed the way forward on this issue''.
He added that they discussed terrorism and the coordinating role the UN can play in the global anti-terrorism effort and they briefly evoked the situation in Iraq and the UN role in that country.
Meanwhile, at the UN headquarters in New York associate spokeswoman Marie Okabe said that Annan and Erdogan ''spoke briefly tete-a-tete''.
