Cyprus offers financial assistance to the Seychelles
Nicosia, Mar 15 (CNA) – Cyprus has donated 20,000 dollars to the Seychelles to help relief efforts following last year’s deadly tsunami in south-east Asia.
The money was handed to the Seychelles Foreign Minister Patrick Pillay by Cyprus’ High Commissioner to Seychelles based in Nairobi Constantinos Eliades at a recent ceremony, an official statement said here Tuesday.
Also present were Cyprus’ Consul to the Seychelles Panos Papakokkinos and Seychelles Honorary Consul to Cyprus Andreas Filokypros who also handed a 10,000 dollar cheque to Pillay on behalf of the Church of Cyprus.
Pillay thanked the government and the people of Cyprus for their assistance and referred to the historic bonds of friendship and excellent bilateral relations.
Eliades referred to the warm feelings of friendship of the government and the people of Cyprus towards the Seychelles and said there is a mutual desire to further deepen bilateral relations.
