Libya supports peaceful solution in Cyprus
Nicosia, Mar 28 (CNA) -- Libya has reaffirmed its position for a peaceful solution to the Cyprus problem.
The country's stance was set out by Libyan Foreign Minister Abd al-Rahman Shalgham during a meeting in Tripoli with Cyprus Foreign Ministry Permanent Secretary Sotos Zackheos.
According to an official press release issued here today, Zackheos met in Tripoli yesterday with Minister Abd al-Rahman Shalgham, who reaffirmed his country's position for a peaceful solution to the Cyprus problem and spoke against secessionist tendencies worldwide.
During the meeting, Zackheos and Shalgham discussed bilateral relations and agreed on the need to strengthen them, especially in the commercial and economic sectors.
Zackheos also met with Libyan Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Siala, who had invited him to Libya, and exchanged views on the Cyprus problem, bilateral issues and international matters of mutual interest, as well as relations between Libya and the European Union, the press release added.
