Athens, Apr 4 (CNA) – Developments on the Cyprus problem and prospects for its solution were at the epicenter of a meeting in Athens between Greek Foreign Minister Petros Molyviatis and Russia’s Foreign Ministry's Special Representative on Cyprus Leonid Abramov.
According to sources, during the meeting there was an exchange of views on the Cyprus problem and prospects to solve it. It was ascertained that “a dynamic is being formulated for a resumption of the talks, bearing in mind that there should be guarantees that will lead to a successful conclusion of the procedure”.
Abramov has already visited Cyprus and Turkey where he discussed developments on Cyprus.
The same sources said that Abramov conveyed to Molyviatis Russia’s message that it would like to see an intensification of bilateral political negotiations between Russia and Greece, especially in the framework of implementing the Action Programme 2005-2006 signed in Moscow during Greek Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis’ visit, which is based on high level meetings.
