Cyprus Ambassador gives speech at Columbia University
Washington DC, April 28 -- Cyprus Ambassador to the United States Euripides L. Evriviades last week gave a speech on “Cyprus In the European Union: Current Status and Future Prospects for Reunification” at the prestigious Columbia University, New York.
The Ambassador stressed that Cyprus’ accession to the European Union last year is politically as well as strategically the single most important development for the country since its independence in 1960. He explained that the accession presents Cyprus with new opportunities, challenges and responsibilities that come with its new place in the international community.
He also stressed that EU membership ushers in new vistas of cooperation with enormous potential to further enhance the bilateral and multi-lateral relations between Cyprus and the United States.
