Nicosia, May 11 (CNA) --The government expects to have ''useful and constructive consultations'' on all issues regarding Cyprus and the European Union with EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rhen, Government Spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides has said.

Responding to questions ahead of Rhen's arrival tonight, the spokesman said there is a general agenda for Rhen's talks here, which will cover all matters concerning Cyprus' ties with the Union.

Invited to comment on information that a new legal basis is sought with regard to two pending EU regulations for the Turkish Cypriots (Financing and Direct Trade regulations), the spokesman said that if there is anything for the public domain, it will be announced.

''Let us not hurry, one must not rush to learn the outcome of discussions before they actually take place. Let us wait and see what Rhen will have to say,'' he said.

Rhen, who will be accompanied by Minister Delegate for Foreign Affairs and Immigration of Luxembourg, current EU President, Nicolas Schmit, will have meetings tomorrow with Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos, Foreign Minister George Iacovou, the leader of the Turkish Cypriot community Mehmet Ali Talat and House President Demetris Christofias.

He will also attend a lunch with the Committee for EU Affairs and attend a dinner hosted by Iacovou.

On Friday he will meet with DISY leader Nicos Anastassiades and the so-called Turkish Cypriot foreign minister Serdar Denktash and participate in a round table discussion with representatives of the Turkish Cypriot Civil Society.

He will give a keynote speech on ''Cyprus: one year after accession'' at the Cyprus International Conference Centre and will attend celebrations for Europe Day.

On Friday afternoon he will give a bi-communal press conference.
