Cyprus made eligible for additional EU funding
Nicosia, May 25 (CNA) -- The European Parliament's committee on regional development has adopted proposals making Cyprus eligible for additional resources from EU structural funds.
Amendments to existing financial arrangements for Cyprus and Malta were tabled yesterday by Cypriot MEP's Kyriakos Triantafyllides and Yiannakis Matsis, and Maltese MEP Simon Busuttil.
The amendments have to be approved by the European Parliament during its plenary in Strasbourg early June.
Under the proposed amendments, Cyprus and Malta will also be able to participate in development programmes for islands and regional areas, on the basis of the equal treatment principle.
