Cypriot Foreign Minister departs for meetings with counterparts
Nicosia, Aug 26 (CNA) - Cypriot Minister of Foreign Affairs George Iacovou leaves on Sunday for The Netherlands, Slovakia and Austria for meetings with his counterparts in view of the COREPER meeting on August 31.
The permanent representatives are expected to examine the issue arising with the declaration by Turkey that it does not recognise the Republic of Cyprus, and the Turkey-EU negotiating framework.
An official statement said Iacovou would then depart for Newport, Wales, to take part in the informal EU Ministers of Foreign Affairs meeting on September 1 and 2, which will also discuss the enlargement procedure including Turkey and Croatia.
The meeting will also examine the Middle East peace process and the situation in the western Balkans.
