Cyprus National Council members over EU - Turkey developments
Nicosia, Sep 23 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos briefed today the members of the National Council, over the provisions of the EU counter-statement to Turkey's unilateral declaration of non recognition of the Cyprus Republic and the negotiating framework of the EU – Turkey accession talks, in connection with Cyprus.
Government Spokesman Kypros said the Council, convened for four hours and some political parties have expressed disagreement in connection with the conclusion of the consultations at the EU.
He added that Papadopoulos also briefed the Council, which is the top advisory body to the President on the Cyprus question, on the meetings he held in New York on the sidelines of the 60th UN General Assembly.
''The President has briefed the Council over the long and difficult negotiations that led to the counter-statement of the EU and the negotiating frame for Turkey'', said Chrysostomides adding that the Cypriot President analyzed in detail the provisions of the two documents as regards Cyprus and the Cyprus problem.
