New Cypriot High Commissioner for South Korea
Nicosia, Sep 29 (CNA) - South Korea's President Roh Moo-hyun has said that his country supports Cyprus on the basis of UN principles and wished every success to efforts to reach a Cyprus settlement that would lead to the reunification of the island.
According to an official press release, Cyprus' High Commissioner to Australia Achilleas Antoniades, presenting his credentials to South Korea's President, briefed Roh Moo-hyun on efforts to solve the Cyprus problem and developments after the island's accession to the European Union in May 2004.
He also referred to the common characteristic of the two countries as the last two divided countries in the world.
Antoniades wished South Korea every success in efforts to reunite the country and its people.
He conveyed the greetings of Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos to the President of South Korea, who in return asked Antoniades to convey his own warm greetings to President Papadopoulos.
