Greek President: US stance does not solve problems
Paphos, Oct 18 (CNA) -- President of the Hellenic Republic Karolos Papoulias said here today that the US stance on Cyprus does not solve problems.
In statements regarding US efforts to upgrade the Turkish Cypriot regime, in occupied Cyprus, Papoulias said this stance does not solve problems but creates stalemates.
He noted the US must contribute to the achievement of goals set by the Cyprus government, which is fully supported by Greece.
His comments come in the wake of an invitation to Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat to meet Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in Washington, a move Nicosia has said promote divisive tendencies.
