Cyprus Republic ratifies EU Constitution Treaty
Nicosia, Nov 2 (CNA) – The Cyprus Republic has ratified the European Constitution Treaty. The instrument of ratification was submitted by the Cypriot Ambassador to Italy Stavros Epaminondas to the Legal Department of the Italian Foreign Ministry on 6 October, an official press release said here today.
The House of Representatives has ratified the Constitutional Treaty on 30 June 2005. The Cyprus Republic belongs to the states which are not obliged to ratify the Treaty through a referendum. The House has ratified the Treaty with a 60% majority.
''For Cyprus, the European Constitution means support of democracy, strengthening our statehood and securing progress and prosperity for all Cypriots”, the press release added.
