T/C leader wants wire fence replaced by a dividing wall in Cyprus
Nicosia, Nov 11 - A report by Rapporteur for Cyprus in the French Senate, Louis le Pensec, on his visit to Cyprus quotes Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat expressing the view that the wire fence that divides the island should be replaced with a dividing wall, as in the case of Israel.
Mr. Talat further threatened to open all checkpoints and let all Turkish settlers, who came illegally from Anatolia in a bid to change the demographic structure of the island, pass to the government controlled areas of the Republic.
Commenting on this report, Cyprus Government Spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides said these statements prove the immorality of the Turkish Cypriot leadership.
He added that the audacity of the Turkish Cypriot leadership, as well as its obsession for political upgrading, are also clear in statements by the so-called premier Ferdi Sabit Soyer, who insists that the two EU regulations for the Turkish Cypriots should be voted and adopted at the same time, namely the financial assistance and direct trade.
