Government ready to open Ledras Street, says Acting Spokesman
Nicosia, Nov 18 (CNA)--The Cypriot government is ready to proceed with the opening of Ledras Street, after the problems pending between the Turkish-occupying forces and UNFICYP are overcome, Acting Government Spokesman Marios Karoyian has said here Friday.
"During the past weeks, the government has sent a letter to the United Nations and to the European Union underlying its readiness to open Ledras Street,'' Karoyian noted.
He said, ''already several contacts with UNFICYP have been made, but what is pending are some problems between the UN and the Turkish occupying force.''
''When the occupying force finds common ground with the UN, our side will be ready to begin immediately so that Ledras Street can open the soonest possible,'' Karoyian noted.
