London, Nov 18 (CNA) -- A Foreign Office spokesman has said British Minister for Europe Dourglas Alexander discussed with T/C so called prime minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer issues regarding a Cyprus settlement, adding that this does not imply any change in the British policy as regards the pseudostate in occupied Cyprus.
Replying to a question by CNA, regarding the meeting that took place Monday, the spokesman said ''we can confirm that a meeting took place between Douglas Alexander and Mr Soyer. It was in the House of Commons. They discussed settlement issues. This meeting does not imply any change in the UK’s policy of not recognition of the self declared TRNC''.
He noted that ''the meeting was an example of the continuation of our policy of talking to representatives from both communities with the aim of trying to facilitate a comprehensive settlement in Cyprus''.
The spokesman recalled that British Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott also met Soyer during his recent visit to Cyprus.
