Cypriot to represent Europe to Lions International Board of Directors
Nicosia, Dec 6 (CNA) -- A Cypriot will represent Europe to the Board of Directors of Lions Clubs International, for the period 2006-2008.
George (Kokos) Nicolaides will assume office on 1 July 2006, during a meeting of the Board of Directors of Lions Clubs International, to be held in Boston, USA.
Nicolaides was first elected to represent the Multiple District 117 of Greece and Cyprus (the two countries are in the same Lions Administration District).
The European Lions Forum, held in Stuttgart in early November, authorized Nicolaides to represent all European lions Clubs to the Lions International Board of Directors meeting.
In Boston, the 32-member Board of Directors will prepare the action plan for the years 2006-2008 of the 1.4 million Lions throughout the world.
Nicolaides has told CNA that he felt very proud to represent the whole of Europe to the Board of Directors, the supreme decision and policy making body of Lions Clubs International.
“I consider this decision a recognition of my long experience and contribution as a Lion and an honour for my small country, Cyprus”, Nicolaides said.
