Koumoutsakos: Possible loss of funds does not worry Turkish Cypriots
by Christa Nicolaou
Athens, Dec 9 (CNA) - The possible loss of funds from the EU financial regulation does not seem to worry the Turkish Cypriot side, Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesman George Koumoutsakos has said.
He noted that the aim is not to strengthen the Turkish Cypriots, as is the publicly stated, but instead it is a political position.
Koumoutsakos told reporters that it seems there is a reversal of the dynamic exhibited in the past days, that there could be a way to disassociate the regulations that were associated procedurally for a long period of time.
''This dynamic is not confirmed and currently there is a return to the previous stalemate concerning the two regulations,'' Koumoutsakos said, pointing out that the fact that there is a possibility to lose funds from the current capital of the financial regulation ''does not seem to concern the Turkish Cypriot side.''
For this reason, he said, with this attitude ''I reach the conclusion that the aim is not to strengthen the Turkish Cypriots, as is the publicly stated, but instead it is a political position.''
