Standard and Poor's team meets with Central Bank Governor of Cyprus
Nicosia, Jan 11 -- Central Bank issues, such as monetary and exchange rate policy, and bank regulation and supervision, were discussed during a meeting between a three-member team from Standard and Poor's and the Governor of the Central Bank Mr. Christodoulos Christodoulou.
The team of the credit ratings company is visiting Cyprus from 11 to 13 January to evaluate the annual ratings of Cyprus' economy.
According to a Central Bank press release, ''during the meeting there was a discussion of the positive development of Cyprus' economy, especially after joining the Exchange Rate Mechanism II (ERM II), and the challenges the country faces, on the basis of the continued effort to limit the financial deficit and the public debt, in a pre-election period.''
''The discussion included Cyprus' course towards adopting the euro,'' it also said.
