Saudi Arabia supports a negotiated Cyprus settlement
Nicosia, Feb 8 (CNA) -- Saudi Arabia Deputy Foreign Minister for Political
Affairs, Prince Torki M. Saud Al Kabee, has expressed the firm position of
his country for the need to respect UN resolutions on Cyprus and to find a
negotiated settlement through peaceful means, acceptable to both communities
on the island.
An official press release said Cyprus Foreign Ministry Permanent Secretary Sotos Zackheos met Al Kabee yesterday in Riyadh, in the presence of the EU Department Director Prince Mohammed Faisal Turki, during which they discussed the Cyprus question, bilateral relations, relations between Cyprus and the Arab world and regional problems.
As regards bilateral relations, they discussed ways to further enhance them by increasing contacts and creating conditions to develop cooperation between businessmen.
Earlier Zackheos had met with the President of Saudi Arabia’s Investments Authority Amr A. Dabbagh, who elaborated on the fields of priority in which Cypriot business people can cooperate with Saudi Arabia.
