The Cyclamen Cyprium is Cyprus’ national plant
The Cyclamen Cyprium is Cyprus’ national plant, while Querqus alnifolia has become the island’s national tree.
The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting this week chaired by Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos.
An official press release in Nicosia said the cabinet reached the decision for tourism and ecological reasons. No other country has set these two indigenous plants as its national plants.
