Greece and Romania take honors in Cyprus tournament

Nicosia, Mar 1 (Reuters) - European champions Greece and Romania finished top of their respective groups at the 10th International Football Tournament run by the Cyprus Football Association.

Greece defeated Kazakhstan 2-0 on Wednesday to top Group 1 while Romania overcame Slovenia 2-0 in Group 2 of the eight-team tournament.

Manchester City striker Georgios Samaras fired the Greeks ahead on 68 minutes with a low shot inside the box and Bolton Wanderers midfielder Stelios Giannakopoulos added a second in stoppage time.

Hosts Cyprus ended on a high note, with goals by Yiannakis Okkas and Chrysis Michael on target in the defeat of Armenia 2-0.
