First Technological University schools to open in September 2007
Nicosia, Mar 28 (CNA) - A broad meeting took place today at the Presidential Palace, under President Tassos Papadopoulos, with a view to the timely operation of the Technological University of Cyprus in September 2007.
The first schools of the University will begin with around 1,000 students, expected to reach 7,000 when the project is completed.
Speaking after the meeting, Minister of Education and Culture Pefkios Georgiades said that already certain sites have been earmarked for the Technological University and more sites are to be selected to begin the expropriation procedure.
Georgiades said the cost of the project would be undertaken by the state, adding that the first schools would open in September 2007 and the rest in one or two years after that.
The meeting was also attended by Minister of Labour and Social Insurance Christos Taliadoros, Minister of the Interior Andreas Christou, Minister of Health Andreas Gavrielides, Minister of Finance Michalis Sarris and department officials.
