Cyprus' Foreign Trade Statistics for January 2006

Nicosia, Apr 11 (CNA) - Total imports/arrivals amounted to 247.3 million pounds and total exports/dispatches were 52.0 million pounds in January 2006, with the trade deficit reaching 195.3 million pounds, according to the monthly report ''Intra-Extra EU Trade Statistics (Summarised Data)'' issued by the Statistical Service of Cyprus.

According to a Statistical Service press release, total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other member states) in January 2006 amounted to 247.3 million pounds as compared to 195.2 million pounds in January 2005.

Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other member states) in January 2006 were 52.0 million pounds compared to 42.4 million pounds in January 2005.

The trade deficit was 195.3 million pounds in January 2006 compared to 152.7 million pounds in January 2005.

During the first month of 2006 total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other member states) valued at 247.3 million pounds.

Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other member states), including stores and provisions, in January 2006 amounted to 52.0 million pounds. Exports/dispatches of domestically produced goods, including stores and provisions, were 19.5 million pounds and exports/dispatches of foreign goods, including stores and provisions, 32.6 million pounds.

On the basis of preliminary estimates for Foreign Trade in February 2006, total imports/arrivals were 241.6 million pounds, of which 157.2 million pounds were arrivals from other EU member states and 84.3 million pounds imports from third countries. Total exports/dispatches were 49.0 million pounds of which 31.9 million pounds were dispatches to other EU member states and 17.1 million pounds exports to third countries.
