Commandaria crowned queen of Cyprus wines
Commandaria, the sweet wine of Cyprus, probably the oldest of its kind in the whole world, was the only Grand Gold Medal winner in the first Cyprus Wine Contest, recently organized by the Vine Commission in Limassol.
The two big wineries of Limassol KEO and ETKO, both with a long tradition in this exclusive Cyprus product, received the coveted prize from President Papadopoulos, the former for its St. John Commandaria and the latter for St. Nicholas.
The Cyprus Wine Contest has been registered with the European Union, enabling the winners to use the award on their product labels throughout Europe and the rest of the world.
