Greek President reminds Turkey of European obligations
Athens, Apr 25 (CNA) – President of the Hellenic Republic Karolos Papoulias has reminded Turkey of obligations that have to be fulfilled if Ankara is to join the European Union as a full member.
Papoulias has called on the Turkish government to respect its EU obligations and at the same time he urged the EU to respect its own principles.
“Greece hopes that Turkey’s European course will lead to the full normalization of bilateral relations, but in order for this course to be completed Ankara must review its foreign policy and go through a real revolution in the country itself”, said Papoulias.
Papoulias said that «the European Union has responsibilities towards its citizens not to accept as a member a state which does not adopt fully its system of values and principles”.
