Foreign Trade Statistics for February 2006

Nicosia, May 9 (CNA) - An increase was recorded in total imports/arrivals and total exports/dispatches in January-February 2006, while the trade deficit for the same period was 383.3 million pounds compared to 320.9 million pounds in January-February 2005.

According to the monthly report ''Intra-Extra EU Trade Statistics (Summarised Data)'' for February 2006, published by the Statistical Service of Cyprus, total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other member states) in January-February 2006 amounted to 484.4 million pounds as compared to 410.1 million pounds in January-February 2005.

Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other member states) in January-February 2006 were 101.0 million pounds compared to 89.0 million pounds in January-February 2005.

The trade deficit was 383.3 million pounds in January-February 2006 compared to 320.9 million pounds in January-February 2005.

During the second month of 2006 total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other member states) valued at 237.1 million pounds.

Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other member states), including stores and provisions, in February 2006 amounted to 49.0 million pounds.

Exports/dispatches of domestically produced goods, including stores and provisions, were 22.7 million pounds and exports/dispatches of foreign goods, including stores and provisions were 26.3 million pounds.
