31st Cyprus International Fair to open on May 26
Nicosia, May 16 (CNA) - The 31st Cyprus International Fair opens on May 26 with the participation of over 350 exhibitors and the display of products and services by 1,500 companies from Cyprus and 25 other countries.
The official opening of the Fair, which will last until June 4, will be declared by Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos on May 25, in the presence of ministers, members of the House of Representatives, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the production sectors and other guests.
Chairman of the Cyprus State Fairs Authority Loris Tryfon told a press conference today that ''following numerous efforts and delays, always within the proper legal and procedural context and with the necessary scientific research and studies, we have now completed the preparation of the Comprehensive Development Strategic Plan (Master Plan).''
The primary goal is the creation of EXPO-CYPRUS and a contemporary conference and exhibition centre, with exhibition pavilions of approximately 5,000 square metres, an outdoor exhibition area and an outdoor 10,000 square metre arena for hosting events.
Referring to the Cyprus International Fair, Tryfon said the official national participations are Egypt, France, Greece, the USA, Italy Malaysia, South Africa, Poland, Romania and Syria, while the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce, with the participation of 20 exhibitors, will be participating for the second consecutive year.
''This year we anticipate more than 130,000 visitors,'' Tryfon said, adding that ''Cyprus, being a full member of the EU, is striving to attract investors' interest in the activities in which it holds comparative advantages, aiming at transforming Cyprus into a contemporary regional business centre, utilising at the same time the EU's growing subsidising contribution.''
