CoE Congress President to pay official visit to Cyprus
Nicosia, May 23 (CNA) -- Council of Europe (CoE) Congress of Local and Regional Authorities President Giovanni Di Stasi will pay an official visit to Cyprus on 25 May ''to discuss with representatives of the national and local authorities of the Republic of Cyprus possible ways of representation in the Congress of the Turkish Cypriot community local representatives,'' a CoE press release said.
The release noted that Di Stasi ''will meet Andreas Christou, Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Cyprus, Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis, Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as Demetris Kontides, President of the Union of Cyprus Municipalities.''
Di Stasi will have discussions with George Iacovou, President of the Union of Cyprus Communities, and Michael Zampelas, Head of the Cypriot Delegation to the Congress.
He will also meet ''with leaders of Turkish Cypriot political parties and local representatives of the Turkish Cypriot community,'' the press release added.
It recalled that ''currently, two local representatives of the Turkish Cypriot community are invited on an ad hoc basis to Congress meetings.''
