Ayia Napa is hosting the 1st Medieval Festival from June 23 to July 1
In a frame of medieval resurgence and aiming at the resurrection of a long-lasting history of common cultural heritage, modern European orientation but also the interconnection of Cyprus with its neighboring countries, the Municipality of Ayia Napa organizes the first annual Medieval Festival. The venue is the Medieval Monastery in Ayia Napa's Square of Churches and the festival runs from tomorrow (23rd) until July 1.
This modern "return" of the Medieval Period contains various forms, as are the perusal of fundamental texts, the interpretation of history of ideas and mentalities, the review of history of institutions and material culture, but also the resurgence of medieval rituals, feasts, and forms of artistic expression.
The artistic program includes mainly musical representations and theatrical plays that will be staged by groups from Austria, England, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Greece and Cyprus.
