Cyprus and Spain sign program for cultural cooperation
Nicosia, Jul 26 -- Cyprus and Spain have signed in Madrid a program for educational and cultural cooperation for 2006-2009.
According to an official press release, the program takes place within the framework of the promotion of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, renewing the Agreement for Cultural, Scientific and Educational Cooperation between the two countries, which was signed in Madrid 16 July 1980.
Director of Cultural Services at the Ministry of Education and Culture Eleni Nikita headed the Cypriot delegation to Madrid, while Consuelo Femenia, of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Spain was the head of the Spanish delegation.
The Program is designed to promote closer ties between the two countries in the fields of education, such as scholarships, sports, learning languages and youth issues. The program will grant a considerable amount of subsidies supporting a variety of events. Proposals encompass exchanges of cultural experts and professors, publications, film series and exhibitions.
