Cyprus’ new Central Bank Governor served as advisor at US Federal Reserve
Nicosia, Apr 13 - Newly-appointed Central Bank Governor of Cyprus, Dr. Athanasios Orphanides, served as a Senior Advisor to the Board of Governors of the US Federal Reserve System.
Dr. Orphanides, who holds a doctoral degree in Economics from MIT University and has had a very successful career in the US, is succeeding Mr. Christodoulos Christodoulou.
An official press release said Dr. Orphanides will assume his duties as Governor of the Central Bank on May 3, 2007. His tenure will last for five years.
The new Governor was born in 1962, he is married and has two daughters.
