Cyprus hosts World Shooting Championships
Nicosia, Aug 29 – Cyprus will be hosting the World Shooting Championships between September 1-10.
A total of 83 countries with some 680 athletes and 250 technical staff will come to Cyprus, which is a new record for the standards of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF). The World Championships will take place at the Cyprus Olympic Shooting Centre in Nicosia. This is the third time Cyprus is hosting the ISSF World Shooting Federation, after 1995 and 2003.
The Championships are the last to take place before the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and all ISSF member countries will participate with a goal of securing five out of thirty Olympic Games seats, which have yet to be allocated.
Cyprus will be participating with 22 athletes (15 male, 7 female) with high hopes.
