British diplomat assures efforts for Cyprus progress will continue
Nicosia, Sep 18 – The five permanent members of the UN Security Council support the continuation of efforts to implement the July 8 Agreement, said British High Commissioner to Cyprus Peter Millet on Tuesday.
The British diplomat was speaking after meeting Acting President of the Republic and President of the House of Representatives Demetris Christofias, where he assured the latter that efforts for progress for a Cyprus solution will continue.
According to an official statement, Mr. Christofias expressed his appreciation for the firm support of the five permanent members of the Security Council, noting that the delay in making a positive step towards this direction was due to the Turkish stance.
He also appealed to the permanent five to maintain a firm position on the Cyprus problem.
