Income from tourism in July marks an 8.5% increase
Nicosia, Oct 1 – Income from tourism in July 2007 marked the biggest increase so far this year, an estimated £13.1 million ($31.7m) rise, an 8.5% increase compared to July 2006.
According to data released by the Statistical Service of the Republic, in the first seven months of 2007 income from tourism rose by 4% compared to last year, but tourist arrivals marked a 1.7% decrease.
Income from tourism in July 2007 rose to £168.1m ($406.3m), compared to £155m ($374.8m) last year.
For the period January-July 2007, income from tourism was estimated at £564m ($1.363b), compared to £542.2m ($1.31b) million during the same period in 2006.
One Cyprus pound is currently trading at approximately $2.42.
