The annual Radiomarathon charity event ended on Wednesday, collecting over $4.9m
Nicosia, Oct 24 – Contributions to the 18th Radiomarathon, a two-day annual fund-raising charity event which ended at midnight last night, have exceeded 2 million Cyprus pounds ($4.9m).
The 48-hour event in aid of children with special needs began on Monday morning and wrapped up at midnight on Tuesday.
This was the 18th Radiomarathon in a row, organized by the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CYBC) and Marfin Popular Bank. A total of 52 kiosks opened for donations, while 12 piggy-bank cars toured the free areas of the Republic to collect money.
Special events were held overseas in countries where Greek and Cypriot communities live, such as the UK, Australia, Canada, the US and Africa.
