Foreign Minister to attend EU General Affairs Council
Nicosia, May 23 - Minister of Foreign Affairs Markos Kyprianou will travel to Brussels on Sunday where he will participate in the EU General Affairs and External Relations Council (GAERC) which takes place on Monday.
Among the topics to be discussed are the situation in Georgia, the Middle East, Lebanon, the Western Balkans, Zimbabwe and Somalia. The Ministers will also discuss the agenda of the European Council of 19-20 June 2008.
In the context of the GAERC there will also be a joint Council of the Foreign Ministers with the Ministers of Defense to discuss the situation in Afghanistan and the European Security and Defense Policy.
Moreover, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will participate in the 18th Joint EU-Gulf Cooperation Council and Ministerial Meeting which will take place in Brussels on the same day and will be speaking on the latest developments in the Middle East.
