The 33rd Cyprus International Fair is Underway
Nicosia, May 24 - The 33rd Cyprus International Fair commenced last week and will be open until June 1st. Speaking during the opening ceremony, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Antonis Paschalides expressed satisfaction with the adaptability pace of the private and public sector to the challenges and prospects that constitute the contemporary competitive economic environment. He states that the Cyprus International Fair reflects the dynamism, the modernization and the adaptability of Cypriot companies in the new international economic environment.
The Minister also noted that “the satisfied growth rates, the drastic reduction of public debt, the low unemployment rate, the containment of inflation at low levels despite the significant rise of the oil prices internationally, and the financial data, depict a healthy economy, with modernized orientation.”
The Government gives emphasis on research and technology, which are the main parameters for enhancing the country’s economy competitiveness and growth, Mr. Paschalides added.
Loris Tryfon, Chairman of the Cyprus State Fairs Authority, noted that “this year, more than 300 exhibitors are presenting the products and services of 1,000 companies from Cyprus and 26 foreign countries.” To further upgrade the Fair, he said that: “this year we have introduced a number of innovations. Among these, the most important is the renovation and upgrading of Pavilion 3, the hall that President of the Republic Demetris Christofias inaugurated at the Fair.”
