Classic Car Rally 48 Hour Cyprus Begins on Friday
Nicosia, May 29 - The Cyprus Federation of Classic Vehicles and the Bank of Cyprus, in cooperation with the Cyprus Anticancer Society, are organizing for the 6th consecutive year the Classic Car Rally 48 Hour Cyprus between May 30th and June 1st.
According to a press release, “the rally will take place as part of the charity events Christodoula March, organized every year by the Bank of Cyprus for the Anticancer Society.”
Eleni Mavrou, the Mayor of Nicosia will perform the Start of the rally from Eleftheria Square in Nicosia, on Friday at 14:00 local time. The cars will take a route toward Klirou, Palaichori, Agros, Kyperounta and after 4 Special Stages, they will end up in the mountain village of Platres.
On Saturday competitors will have to face 4 Special Stages driving towards Omodos and Pissouri in order to end up in Paphos, at the harbor near the old castle, where they will be welcomed by the Mayor of Paphos Savvas Vergas. In the afternoon and after another 4 Special Stages the crews will return to Platres.
The Sunday route will take cars and drivers, after another 4 secret Special Stages and through the Kykkos Monastery, to the village of Galata, where they will join with the members of the Cyprus Cycling Federation, who will be driving to Galata from the villages around that area. A 3-hour celebration will take place at the village square, where the money collected by the various volunteers will be handed to the President of the Anticancer Society.
Apart from the usual prizes given to the winners of the competitive part, there will also be prizes for the 3 drivers who will bring in the most money for the charity.
